The Comeback is a 501(c)3, code S99 empowerment program that was inspired by the need to encourage community members to take charge of their destiny and become accomplished individuals that they aspire to become.
We strive to do more than just a yearly dinner. We look to provide resources, guidance, mentorship, counseling referrals, engaging members in community works, and to collaborate with other entities to bring a support system to returning citizens, and individuals with mental health illness.
Comeback Dinner - A formal evening meal where members not only show up dressed in our best attires to induce a formal atmosphere and confidence, but also a place where networking, peer learning, and connections are made possible.
On December 30th, 2017, we officially launched our first annual Comeback Dinner. We were humbled to host more than fifty individuals who demonstrated interest in overcoming all odds to achieve their dreams. We were honored by three accomplished motivational speakers whose backgrounds are similar to those of the members'. The keynote speakers shared inspirational stories about their educational and professional journey to show that through hard work, persistence, and determination, anyone can achieve their dream.
We have hosted the Dinner every year since 2017, with the exception of year 2020 due to the pandemic. Every year, we see an increase in number of attendees. As of our latest dinner, approximately 200 people showed up. As we continue to grow in size, we also continue to find a space for everyone. The dinner is intended for everyone that can use some inspiration, network and connections, all through a nicely organized banquet.
Mr. Celestin, a husband, a father to his son, an entrepreneur, and a gospel artist. Through his personal and work experience, the vision for The Comeback was given to him in September, 2017. With the great help of Mr. Bruno-Gaston, Mr. Stephano Claude, and Ms. Lydiah Mpyisi, the first Comeback Dinner took place three months later. Members networked, connected, fellowshipped, and were inspired by selected role models.
Mr. Bruno-Gaston, a husband, a father to three daughters, a High School Soccer Coach, and an Orthopedic Representative for Johnson Johnson has been a mentor to a good number of young adults within the valley for years.
